Gander & White is seeking an Art Handler / Packing Technician to work in the packing shop at our Long Island City facility. At least two years of art handling experience is required. A background in / knowledge of contemporary art and design is preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
o Handle, pack, crate and store artwork, objects and furniture (both antique and Modern) for local, long distance, and international shipping in accordance with industry
and company standards and practices
o Work closely with the Warehouse, Crating Shop and Project Coordinators to ensure shipments meet deadlines
o Accurately complete all packing and crating projects on time, and ensure that each item, package, crate and shipment is labeled accurately and appropriately
o Generate accurate and descriptive condition reports and photo documentation when necessary
o Communicate status of projects as well as concerns and issues with condition reports (condition of items), packing/crating orders, schedules, deadlines, etc. with management and account holders
o Maintain a clean and safe work environment
o Maintain confidentiality of clients’ personal property and privacy
QUALIFICATIONS:
o 2+ years art handling experience; knowledge of current art handling and packing/crating techniques
o Ability to work well in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment independently an as part of a team
o Good verbal and written communication skills
o Attention to detail, ability to prioritize assignments, strong organizational skills
o Creativity, flexibility and positive attitude, as well as problem solving skills and strong work ethic
o Basic computer knowledge and skills (Windows Platform)
