About

Jack Shainman Gallery is seeking an experienced and qualified full-time Client Liaison Registrar.

The Client Liaison Registrar handles all client shipments for the gallery from the moment of sale, sourcing shipping, crating, installation, and other related services. This involves liaising with collectors and institutions and responding authoritatively on matters of domestic and international shipping including laws regarding taxation. A major aspect of the position involves mediating the billing between shippers and gallery clients. This entails drafting invoices, accepting payments, and approving vendor invoices for the bookkeeper.

In addition to the collectors and an established network of fine art shipping firms, the position works closely with:

- Framers, foundries, printers, studios, and any other entity involved in production, to ensure timeframes are met
- A team of preparators to ensure works have condition reports and are packed adequately for transit
- Gallery Registrar to ensure artwork details are entered correctly and maintained diligently
- Bookkeeper to approve and track financials within an explicit order of operations for release of works

The ideal candidate must work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Candidate should be professional, discreet and have experience in art logistics, preferably with a contemporary gallery. Candidate should also be comfortable multitasking, working as a member of a team, and meeting tight deadlines while maintaining a personable and professional demeanor. Organization, self-motivation and careful attention to detail are a must, as is the ability to work well with others. Candidates must have a solid grasp of industry best practices and be sensitive to deadlines and budgets.

Qualifications:
- BA in Art History or relevant field (required)
- Shipping experience, particularly with high-value items (domestic and international)
- At least 3 years of experience in a contemporary art gallery or similar institution, minimum 1 year of full-time
shipping experience
- Familiarity with art handling and production
- Knowledge of ArtBase is a plus

Full-time position, salary commensurate with experience.

Qualified candidates may apply by sending a resume, cover letter and references to jsgemployment@gmail.com. Please include Client Liaison Registrar in the subject line.
