About

The Arts & Humanities Division at Harford Community College has a vibrant credit curriculum with twenty-nine full-time faculty and several staff members. The Division offers programs and courses in Art + Design, Arts Management, Communication Studies, English, Foreign Languages, History, Interactive Media, Mass Communications, Music, Philosophy, and Theatre. Additional components of the Division include the WHFC Radio Station, The Owl Magazine, the Chesapeake Gallery, along with community performances.The Dean of Arts & Humanities reports directly to the Vice President for Academic Affairs and plays an integral role in campus leadership, including serving on the Academic Affairs Leadership Team. The Dean provides administrative leadership for the division by managing the Arts & Humanities programs and initiatives that alignment with the mission, vision and values of the College.Duties include:Support student success by promoting proactive retention strategies and interventions;Provide leadership in assessment and academic planning;Develop and refine curriculum in collaboration with faculty and available data;Hire, supervise, evaluate, and mentor both faculty and staff;Oversee schedule development;Develop and allocate budgets; and maintain and manage instructional facilities;Coordinate dual enrollment courses from the Division;Advocate for students, including addressing academic appeals and complaints;Implement College policies and practices related to faculty, staff, and students;Serve as a liaison to local professionals and organizations;Develop and maintain memoranda of understanding and articulation agreements;Chair and serve on College committees;Participate in community outreach and development activities;Perform other duties as assigned, including partnership creation and grantsmanship.Employees of Harford Community College, including instructors for online and virtual courses, must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia; non-residents are expected to relocate to meet this requirement.
