Lesley Dill Studio is accepting applications for 2022 fall semester internships.
This is an unpaid internship. The studio workdays are Wednesday-Friday, 9:45-5:00. The home-studio is located in Brooklyn Heights/Downtown Brooklyn. We ask for a commitment of 2-3 days a week for three months, between September and December 2022.
This fall, we will be making sculptural works that incorporate weaving with wire, cutouts from metal foil, wood and textiles.
We are looking for upbeat, calm interns interested in learning more about studio art. This is a team building collaborative studio where we make decisions and develop techniques together. While previous art experience is appreciated, we welcome all skill levels and backgrounds. The ideal candidate has a strong interest in collaboration, works well with their hands and is prepared to work independently on complex studio projects.
We are also a teaching studio. We offer daily lunchtime talks or films, and give you the opportunity to give a presentation on your work and ideas. Lesley and Allee (Studio Manager) will talk to you about archiving, care of materials, studio organization, and the process of preparation for a multi-level project.
Interns will gain experience in the following skills and processes:
- Fabrication- weaving, X-acto blade cutting, painting, metalwork, drafting and planning, experimenting with mixed media.
- Administrative skills for working with galleries, museums, and curators. We will give you examples.
- Support and advice for your personal practice from both Lesley and Allee.
We ask that you please wear a mask while indoors with us.
Please email Lesley at lesleydillstudio@gmail.com with a resume, cover letter and images of your work, if you are interested in interviewing for this position. www.lesleydill.net
