The Cincinnati Opera Chorus and Mainstage roles are paid, professional engagements under the jurisdiction of AGMA, the American Guild of Musical Artists. Singers from outside the greater Cincinnati area are welcome and encouraged to audition, however, applicants should be aware that most chorus members and smaller mainstage roles tend to be cast locally. Rehearsals for the 2022 Summer Festival will begin on May 23 and run through August 1.

For the 2022 audition season, Cincinnati Opera will be accepting both in-person and virtual audition submissions. Both in-person and virtual auditions will receive the same review criteria and are treated equally. Should you feel at any point that an in-person audition is not the right choice for you, please reach out to Auditions@cincinnatiopera.org so that we can assist in converting your audition to a virtual submission. For in-person auditions, strict COVID-19 protocols will be followed.
Compensation for choristers is provided per the hourly and performance rates outlined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement with AGMA. Mainstage and YA contracts are negotiated on either a weekly or per performance basis.
