A New York office specializing in contemporary art is offering an internship opportunity to conduct research into contemporary artists and the art market.
The Research Intern will assist with a range of research and administrative duties and acquire transferable skills through responsibilities including, but not limited to:
Researching artists, international exhibitions, events, art fairs, prizes and biennials
• Source and compile research materials on artists
• Track and research gallery exhibitions
• Maintain and track research lists including, but not limited to auctions, art fairs, art prizes and biennials
• Monitor and organize gallery newsletters, art blogs and other information flow
Analyzing market data
• Assist with artist pricing research and auction related analyses.
The internship offers a broad exposure to the field of contemporary art and its market dynamics, and the partners will ensure the intern receives appropriate training, has a valuable learning experience, and is given opportunities to pursue further areas of particular interest.
REQUIREMENTS:
The ideal candidate should have a strong interest in, and some prior knowledge of post-war and contemporary art, and the art market. Strong written and oral communication skills along with a keen attention to detail is essential as is the ability to prioritize and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment. Experience with Microsoft Excel is a plus. Must be available to work 16 hours/week, with a minimum commitment of three months expected.
