The Position
New 42 seeks an Senior Manager, Individual Giving, to manage the organization’s individual giving department and secure funds for New 42’s expanding programs, capital projects, and more. The Senior Manager, Individual Giving should have the ability to handle varying daily workload, prioritize competing deadlines, compose compelling solicitation emails and letters, engage and cultivate major individual supporters, manage other members of the Individual Development team, and meet or exceed multi-million dollar goals. They must have the ability to build and maintain positive ongoing relationships with individual donors at all levels and New 42 colleagues to fully represent the depth of the organization’s diverse programs.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Works closely with the Director of Development to craft comprehensive short- and long-term fundraising strategies.
Oversees all facets of New 42’s Individual Giving program, including campaigns, events and major gifts.
Manages the Manager, Campaigns and Events
Cultivates and stewards a personal portfolio of donors and prospects and supports the Director of Development,; VP, Development; and, the President & CEO in managing their portfolios and individual connections and prospects.
Identifies new Individual prospects using Tessitura and iWaves search engine software in collaboration with the Manager, Campaign and Events and Assistant, Development Information Systems
Conceives and manages email and direct mail campaigns in collaboration with Manager, Campaign and Events
Writes all copy for solicitation letters and direct mail campaigns.
Works closely with the Director of Development and Manager, Campaigns and Events to conceive and execute events, including Salons, Playdates, The Great New Victory Scavenger Hunt and New 42 Gala.
Collaborates interdepartmentally with Marketing and Communications around communication strategies, solicitation campaigns and event materials and with other departments as needed on select fundraising appeals and events.
Manages annual budgeting and reforecasting for individual giving.
Responsible for meeting or exceeding the annual Individual Giving goal.

Essential Knowledge and Qualifications:
Expertise in direct solicitations, fundraising principles and techniques
Outgoing personality with the ability to engage donors and prospects in in-person meetings
Knowledge of the New York City philanthropic community strongly preferred
Excellent writing skills
Intensely organized with an superb attention to detail
Comfort with budgets and financial reporting
Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and Word and Google applications and ability to learn the Tessitura database system with a growing level of sophistication
Team player able to work collaboratively with development colleagues as well as interface effectively with other departments
Keen sense of curiosity and initiative; motivated to meet and exceed goals
Creativity, design and special events experience a plus
Ability to work nights and weekends
