Visiting Assistant Professor of Music. Allegheny College invites applicants for a visiting one-year appointment in Music for the 2022-2023 academic year (start date of July 29, 2022). Ideal candidates will have experience and success leading wind bands as well as teaching undergraduate music courses within a liberal arts context. Conducting the Allegheny College Wind Symphony, a symphonic band of students and community members, is required of the position. Delivery of an undergraduate music history sequence will be a primary classroom responsibility and contributions in ethnomusicology or world music are encouraged. A terminal degree in conducting or music education is required; ABD will be considered. Teaching load is six courses per year (3-3) or equivalent. All faculty are expected to participate in delivering college-wide first-year/sophomore seminars. Opportunities and support for research and scholarly activity are available.
