The Artist will serve as Vocal Jazz Ensemble Piano Accompanist for the following:
Rehearsals: Mondays, 5:00-6:30 pm and Fridays, 2:00-3:30 pm. Concerts TBA: not to exceed 5 per semester
Duties:
1) Work with Director to ensure high-quality music-making and best practices in music teaching and learning.
2) Accompany the assigned ensemble during each scheduled rehearsal for the duration of the semester.
3) Unless excused in advance by the Director, the Artist will attend all regularly scheduled rehearsals following final concerts.
4) Run and/or accompany occasional sectional rehearsals with singers or instrumentalists.
5) Accompany assigned ensemble and related soloists for scheduled concerts not to exceed five per semester.
6) Notify Director in advance/in writing of planned absences or absences/tardiness due to sickness or family emergency. It is expected the Artist will secure and compensate a qualified substitute for any and all missed services. Director retains the right to participate in the selection of qualified substitutes.
7) Arrive in advance of the scheduled rehearsal/call time to ensure a punctual start time.
8) Maintain a professional demeanor and be supportive of Director.
9) Arrive at each rehearsal prepared to a. play choral parts, b. play notated accompaniment, and in the case of Vocal Jazz, c. comp, and d. improvise.
