About

Seagle Festival is the oldest and one of the most distinguished summer vocal training programs in the United States, celebrating it's 107th season in 2022. Thirty-two emerging artists are selected each year and are in residence for an intense 9-week training program that focuses on performances, audition preparation, strategic planning and other business aspects of being a professional singer. As part of the training program Seagle Festival produces a season of four mainstage productions, a touring children's opera and various other concerts during the nine-week period.

Additionally, a fall resident artist program selects four singers from the summer participants to remain in residence Seagle Festival through early October. These singers present a touring in-school children's opera as well as a touring revue across the region. They also participate in new opera workshops as part of The American Center for New Works Development at Seagle Festival. The fall resident artists receive housing and a weekly stipend during the fall program.

2021-2022 Season
- Hello, Dolly! - Herman
- Suor Angelica/Gianni Schicchi - Puccini
- Fellow Travelers - Spears/Pierce
- Once Upon a Mattress - Rodgers
- The Three Bears (children's opera) - Stinson

Requirements

Exceptional talent and operatic or musical theater potential are the most important criteria for selection. Emerging artists who are not yet ready for large operatic apprentice programs, but have a secure technique, solid training, a distinctive vocal quality and are ready to perform carefully selected solo and chorus roles should apply. All emerging artists must be available for the entire length of the program. Our 2022 summer emerging artist training program runs from June 20, 2022 to August 21, 2022. Our fall resident artist program runs from August 22, 2022 to October 9, 2022.
