The Laffont Competition for the Buffalo-Toronto District. District auditions will be held Saturday November 21, 2026 at Nichols School- Flickinger Performing Arts Center in Buffalo, NY.
The Met’s Laffont Competition—previously known as the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions—is designed to discover promising young opera singers and assist in the development of their careers and is sponsored by hundreds of donors and volunteers from across North and South America. Some of today’s greatest singers got their starts in the competition, including Jamie Barton, Stephanie Blythe, Lawrence Brownlee, Anthony Roth Costanzo, Emily D’Angelo, Michael Fabiano, Renée Fleming, Susan Graham, Ryan Speedo Green, Lisette Oropesa, Eric Owens, and Nadine Sierra.

Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competitions applicants will compete for a chance to advance to the Regional Finals. Auditions will be open to the public and run from approximately 10am - 3pm on Saturday November 21, 2026 at the Flickinger Performing Arts Center at Nichols School. A donation of $10 per person is suggested at the door, no tickets required to attend.
