Gagosian is hiring a full-time Associate Director of Public Programs.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
– Create and develop programs for all New York galleries (performances, film screenings, talks, etc.).
– Cultivate and develop partnerships with external performance arts, film, and music organizations to create programs.
– Oversee logistics of in-person programs in New York.
– Prepare budgets for programs; submit invoices to Global Director of Public Programs for approval and processing.
– Liaise with all artists, speakers, participants and collaborators. Organize prep calls for programs. Draft contributor releases.
– Book travel for artists, speakers, participants and collaborators.
– Negotiate honoraria with speakers and collaborators.
– Prepare all marketing materials for programs; draft copy for webpage, Eventbrite page, and social channels. Work closely with marketing and press departments to increase public program attendance.
– Coordinate program staffing and supervise.
– Act as on-site point person for speakers, attendees, tech needs and vendors.
– Oversee technical logistics of program; manage sound check, liaise with videographer, etc.
– Work closely with gallery staff during programs to ensure smooth operation and excellent client service.
– Create and maintain program budgets; track invoices internally; communicate with vendors.
– Oversee the data collection, analysis, and reporting on all New York programs; liaise with online sales team and send post-program data to appropriate departments.
– Oversee filing and archiving of program materials (invitations, guest lists, budget spreadsheets).
– Work with video team on editing program recording; liaise with artists and speakers on edit.
– Report on programs, including numbers, participant feedback, observational notes on curriculum and program structures. Generate reports to provide insight on departmental finances and audience metrics.
– Conduct ongoing research into contributors, collaborators, partners and venues.
Qualifications for the role
– A long-term interest in developing a career within the field of Public Programs and Education.
– 5-8 years of experience in a similar role.
– Excellent communication and written skills are required.
– Professionalism and discretion is a must.
– Proactive planning ability combined with keen attention to detail.
– Possess excellent time management and organizational skills
– Excellent computer skills including: Microsoft Office Products, Eventbrite, Zoom.
The position schedule is Monday–Friday, 9:30am–6pm, with additional hours required for programs, openings and events.
