Lincoln University invites applications for a 12-month Band Director position to oversee the Concert band, Orange Crush Marching band, the Pep Band and other instrumental ensembles, as needed. The Band Director will be responsible for: the supervision of all student participants, the Assistant Band Director, and auxiliary coordinators; procuring instruments and uniforms in conjunction with the VPA Administrative Assistant and per the University’s Purchasing Department policies; and arranging and conducting all band performances on and off campus. The candidate will also be responsible for teaching applied lessons in their discipline as well as courses in arranging and composition. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Oversee and direct all band administrative tasks including but not limited to: budget, scholarship awards, performances and recruitment efforts. Establishes all participation policies and formulates an operation manual for all students and associated staff, be they compensated or volunteers. Oversight and coordination with contractors and assistants, including the dance coordinator(s), flag coordinator(s), the assistant band director, and band alumni. Coordinate and oversee all recruitment and retention efforts of existing and potential band members, including auxiliary personnel. Provide mentorship, guidance, and support for members of the Concert, Marching, Pep Band and other instrumental ensembles, as needed. Prepare the music and field shows, drumline, etc., for all band performances. Schedule all band performances, on or off campus, completing travel and required paperwork needed for such participation, in accordance with University policies and procedures. Select, maintain, and inventory all marching, pep, and concert band music, uniforms, instruments, and equipment. Facilitate and maintain an instrument and instrumental supplies, i.e., reeds, mouthpieces, etc., inventory, purchasing schedule, and student checkout system. Responsible for the conduct and behavior of all instrumentalists, percussionists, band managers, and auxiliary members and the enforcement of University policies and sanctions relative to students' academic and judicial performance. All other relevant duties as assigned.
