Casting "Camp Champ," a dark comedy about a bitchy but wildly competent West LA Girl Scout Troop, one of the last communities left in the world. Synopsis: They are on a pre-destined mission to save the last of humanity, that is, if they can sacrifice their crush. Mary-Kate, Cordelia, and Regan adventure through the wastelands of California, facing radioactive poison ivy, the monster at the bottom of the Salton Sea, and a shortage of Marlboros. When they find themselves at a deserted camp site, overgrown and way too spooky, they discover that just because you earned a badge in something, it doesn’t mean you are ready to face it in real life. The cool thing about gender is it is a performance. this play was written with non-binary, trans, and our expansive LGTBQIA. a blend of people and cultures and ability is the vibe, never all white and cis, wowie. The characters below are girl scouts, actors will be performing girl scout, whatever that means. There is singing, scout songs, of course, if you have an instrument that you play like a uke or a guitar. Our process will integrate "moment work" as a method for exploratory collaborative world building. rehearsals will be four days/week, evenings and weekends. We are casting for the roles of Mary Kate and Reagan as well as two understudies who could play any three of the girl scouts. Auditions will be held over zoom the evening of Friday July 1st.
